Dwarf Cinquefoil (Early Cinquefoil)
Potentilla canadensis L.

This is a low-growing plant that spreads by vining stems. A similar species, common cinquefoil, is also found in Connecticut. Other simlar plants are barren strawberry and Indian strawberry, both of which have leaves with three leaflets, not five.
