Older books would identify the plant in the photo as Viburnum cassinoides, but it is now considered to be Viburnum nudum var. cassinoides, a variety of the naked witherod. Viburnum nudum var. nudum is rare in New England, and it is believed to be extinct in wild areas of Connecticut.
